On Monday 28th August, Egle Laurinaityte and David Cox took part in the MCC, the opening event of this year’s UTMB festival in Chamonix in France. New for this year the MCC is a 40k race with 2,300 metres of ascent.
Egle started off well and at one point was only 5 minutes behind the third placed lady. Unfortunately she struggled with the heat and sun stroke over the latter stages of the race but still managed to finish a superb tenth female, and 84th overall, in 5.24.50.
David also struggled with the altitude and terrain but finished well up the field of 844 finishers in 190th place in a time of 6.07.40.
The UTMB is one of the iconic events in mountain running and we look forward to hearing more about Egle and David’s adventures when they get home.
