Sue Walker completes the Heart of Scotland 100
Congratulations and very well done to Sue Walker who has completed the Heart of Scotland 100 Challenge in 34 hours 23 minutes. This is an excellent achievement and further event information can be found on the event website HERE.

The event started at 10am on Saturday morning in Dunkeld before venturing to Kirkmichael, onto the Cateran Trail to Enochdhu, up the glen to Daldhu, Shinagag, and on to Blair Atholl. The route then headed to Bruar, to Dalnacardoch and on to Loch Errochty and onwards to Kinloch Rannoch. The closing stages went to Aberfeldy before finishing back in Dunkeld.

Sue reached the finish some 100 miles later at around 6.20pm on Sunday. Sue has raising money for Girlguiding Fife and if anyone would like to make a donation then the charity link can be found HERE.

Strong runs by Taylor and Turner at Dunblane 7.5 Miler
Iain Taylor posted a time of 43.19 whilst placing 5th overall and leading M40 at the Dunblane 7.5 Mile Road Race. Judith Turner covered the undulating course in 49.01 to finish 3rd lady overall and Melanie Sinclair clocked a time of 59.13 (13th lady). A field of around 350 runners took part.

Andrew Smith was the leading Carnegie runner at Saturday's Edinburgh parkrun 5k. Andrew clocked a fast 17.16 placing 8th overall. Fergus McGaw ran a strong race setting a personal best of 18.31 finishing 22nd while Malcolm Smith was 58th in 20.35. Kieran Morgan was 62nd in 20.55, Louise Hewison was 116th in 23.28, Clive Cable was 128th in 24.03, Lesley Halstead was 133rd in 24.16 and Robbie Swinton set a PB of 27.42 in 188th.

Judy Turner wins the Knock Hill race in Crieff
Carnegie's Judy Turner was first lady in a closely contested Knock Hill Race on Wednesday evening in Crieff. Judy covered the 5 mile route with 685 feet of climbing in 36.25, with Jacqui Higginbottom (Carnethy) placing 2nd in 36.46 and Claire Douglas (Perth RR), 3rd in 36.51.

Peter Simpson was the leading M40 timing at 33.41. The race was won by Perth Road Runner Mike Carroll in 30.58.

Also on Wednesday evening, Catriona McCracken placed 5th lady at the Self Transcendence 1 Mile Road Race in Edinburgh clocking a time of 6.02. Kieran Morgan ran a personal best of 6.14 only three days after completing the Edinburgh Marathon.

Fast times at Ravenscraig Park one mile race
Carnegie's Calum and Fergus McGaw were both in action on Tuesday evening at the Ravenscraig Park One Mile Race in Kirkcaldy. Bradley is the leading Scot at the Edinburgh Marathon
Carnegie's Scott Bradley produced another outstanding marathon performance finishing 6th overall and leading Scottish athlete at the Edinburgh Marathon. Despite the scorching temperatures, Bradley recorded a personal best of 2.35.14 as he reached the finish at Musselburgh Race Course.

There were 9459 finishers in the marathon with several thousand runners also taking part in the associated Scottish Half Marathon and Hairy Haggis Marathon Relay. Twenty four Carnegie members took part in the marathon.

Iain Taylor was the 2nd Harrier home covering his 26.2 miles in 2.53.59 placing 43rd overall. Stevie Ogg clocked 3.02.59 (135th) and on his marathon debut Ian Johnston enjoyed an excellent run finishing 176th and 8th M50 in 3.05.55.

Gail Murdoch was the leading Carnegie lady finishing in 3.14.36 followed by marathon debutant Kristin Lownie who ran a very strong race timing at 3.18.44. Grant Reekie put in a strong performance finishing 448th in 3.20.45, David MacLean timed at 3.23.11 (529th) and Derek Cassells was 640th in 3.26.25.

Tom Spry placed 6th in the M60 category in a time of 3.35.05, John Fulham clocked 3.42.15 (1392nd), Mick Cowie was 2078th in 3.53.22 and Kieran Morgan was 2328th in 3.56.12. Well done to Morna Fleming who broke the four hour barrier for the 1st time in 3.57.18 and to Annette Bunyan who ran a great race finishing in 4.02.10.

Allan Davie completed the marathon in 4.07.29, Gillian McCracken in 4.14.09, Derek Carswell in 4.22.52, Robert Milton in 4.26.26, Colin Reynolds in 4.31.28, Gordon Rae in 4.37.07, Gillian Henderson in 4.48.59, Julie Humphreys in 5.02.28 and Mehrnaz Campbell in 5.45.51.

Jo Wilson ran a personal best of 1.36.07 in the Scottish Half Marathon while Allan Brannigan clocked 1.45.19 and Clive Cable completed the 13.1 miler in 1.52.44.

On Saturday, Richie Cunningham placed a superb 2nd overall at the Cape Wrath Marathon in 3.08.17. Fabienne Thompson was 4th lady and 1st F40 in 3.46.00 and Neil Campbell clocked 4.26.27.

Carnegie Harriers are a friendly running club who cater for the interests of road, country, hill, ultra, trail and fun running. The club meets for training at Dunfermline Academy of Sport, Pitreavie Playing Fields, Dunfermline, every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.20pm (for a 6.30pm start). The Academy of Sport offer superb changing / showering facilities along with a licensed bar and cafe.

We welcome new members of all abilities regardless of whether you are a serious competitor or just wanting to keep fit. We organise structured group training sessions throughout the year along with promoting several open races, club member only events, time trials and social nights. Membership through to 31st May 2011 is only £25 per year for adults and £10 for juniors (15 - 17 years old).

Sky Class 5K success for Carnegie's Iain Taylor
Iain Taylor was amongst a small field of runners contesting the 2nd Sky Class 5K on Portobello Promenade on Sunday morning. Iain who is running next Sunday's Edinburgh Marathon ran a strong race and was rewarded with a new course record, winning the event in 17.10.

Richie places 3rd at the Cateran Trail Ultra
After placing 3rd at the recent Cateran Trail 23 mile race, Richie Cunningham returned to the Spittal of Glenshee on Saturday to tackle the daunting Cateran Trail 55 Mile Ultra Race. As always Richie put in a superb performance finishing 3rd overall in 8.44.00 while Peter Humphreys finished 6th.

On Saturday afternoon, the Loch Leven Half Marathon took place from Kinross with eleven Harriers amongst the 479 runners taking part. Ruairidh Campbell on his return to competitive action after a two year absence through injury was the leading Carnegie runner. Ruairidh clocked an excellent time of 1.17.52 placing 8th overall. Campbell Hutt finished 18th in 1.21.37 and Derek Cassells was 81st in 1.33.29.

Our Carnegie ladies team were 2nd team overall with 36 points with Kinross Road Runners taking the title with 35 points. Gail Murdoch was 10th lady in 1.33.48, Claire Howie was 11th in 1.34.45 and Isobel Burnett was 2nd F50 in 1.37.18.

Alan Manson placed 31st at the Goatfell Hill Race on the Isle of Arran covering the 8 mile race in 1.46.23. Neil Campbell ran his fastest Goatfell race finishing 49th in 1.57.36 and Alison West was the 2nd F50 in 1.58.16. Andy Sim was 57th in 2.00.21.

Gordon Somerville clocked 1.48.54 at the Monklands Half Marathon and Val Macaulay was 2nd F50 in 2.03.33.

Ross Carrie was 21st at a windswept Edinburgh parkrun in 19.22, Jon Farrimond clocked 19.56, Kieran Morgan timed at 21.13 and Paul Arnott reached the finish in 23.02.

Pauline Walker completes her 24 hour race in France
Congratulations to Carnegie's Pauline Walker who represented Team GB at the World and European 24 Hour Championships in France. Pauline battled hard throughout her round the clock race finishing a highly creditable 46th lady (30th European lady) overall reaching a distance of 173.224km (107.65 miles). Pauline is the current Scottish record holder for 24 hour running having completed 130 miles 607 yards (209.770km) at the Perth Ultra Festival back in 2008.

Time trial success for Taylor and Wilson
Carnegie Harriers hosted their 3 Mile Time Trial around a testing two lap course in Dunfermline on Thursday evening. Iain Taylor enjoyed a strong run placing 1st overall, reaching the finish outside Pitreavie Castle in 16.26. Willie Hargreaves took 2nd place clocking 17.06 and Stevie Ogg was 3rd in 18.26. Ian Johnston was the leading M50 and 4th overall in 18.06.

Carnegie's Jo Wilson making her debut around the undulating three mile course was 1st lady in 19.14. Gail Murdoch finished 2nd lady in 19.21 and Vivienne Ogg was 3rd lady in 27.08.

Pauline Walker all set for World Championships
Carnegie's Pauline Walker represents Team GB this Thursday at the World and European 24 hour Championships in Brive, France. This is a tremendous achievement and we wish Pauline every success. Championship Silver for Pete Simpson at Ben Lomond
The 4th event in Carnegie's Hill Running Grand Prix took place on Saturday afternoon at the 7.5 mile Ben Lomond Hill Race. Ten Harriers tackled this tough race which incorporated the SAL Hill Running Championship and has a climb of 3192 feet.

Congratulations to Pete Simpson who won the silver medal in the M50 category. Pete placed 24th overall in 1.19.16. Steven King was 55th in 1.29.07 and Alan Manson on his return from an achilles injury placed 82nd in 1.32.14. Kenny MacDonald ran a strong race finishing 109th in 1.38.48, Andy Sim was 132nd in 1.44.55 and Carnegie's new hill running captain Allan Macaulay was 135th in 1.45.22.

Alison West placed highly in the F50 age group and 142nd overall in 1.47.34, Neil Campbell ran a Ben Lomond personal best of 1.49.44 (146th), Lynne Bennet was 150th in 1.50.02 and Chris Davidson was 153rd in 1.50.56.

Successful day for Carnegie at the Cateran Trail
The 10th anniversary of the Cateran Trail Relay saw Carnegie Harriers field six teams for the 23 mile race from Blairgowrie to the Spittal of Glenshee. The corresponding individual 23 mile race saw five Carnegie members tackle the full distance.

Carnegie's veteran mens team enjoyed a superb race winning the overall event in 2.53.06 with Carnegie senior mens team right on their tails finishing 2nd team overall in 2.53.30.

Carnegie's mixed team placed 7th overall in 3.41.10 and our ladies team were 10th overall (2nd placed ladies team) in 3.51.19. Carnegie's supervet team were 14th overall in 3.57.06 and our mixed 'B' team were 18th in 5.07.26.

Congratulations to Scott Bradley who won the individual race in a very fast 3.00.26 retaining the title that her won in 2009. Richie Cunningham excelled finishing 3rd overall in 3.12.42 and Phil Smithard placed 14th in 4.08.40. Morna Fleming produced a very strong run over the challenging course finishing 26th in 4.50.00. Sue Walker completed the tough race in 5.20.00 in 35th position.

Well done to all forty Harriers who took part in the Cateran Trail events and a special thanks to Bill Duff who put in hours of hard work and effort organising all the Carnegie teams.

The Edinburgh parkrun 5k attracted two Carnegie runners on Saturday morning with Ross Carrie clocking 19.58 placing 24th and Paul Arnott timed at 22.02 finishing 49th.

Kieran Morgan was the sole Harrier at the Penicuik 10K Road Race where he placed 91st in 46.26.

On Sunday morning a field of over 13,000 ladies took part in the Ignis Asset Management Women's 10K Road Race in Glasgow. Angela Wallace returned to competitive action placing 221st in 47.01 and Lisa Carrie made her Carnegie debut finishing 5610th in 1.07.34.

Over 150 entries now received for the Auld Toun 10K
The annual Auld Toun 10K Road Race which is organised by Carnegie Harriers will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 2nd June 2010. The race will start and finish in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline and new for 2010 we are introducing chip timing by Winning Time UK.

Harriers head for the Hills
The 4th event in Carnegie's Hill Running Grand Prix takes place at 1pm on Saturday afternoon at the Ben Lomond Hill Race. Several Harriers are set to take part in this tough 7.5 mile race with 3192 feet of climbing.

Also on Saturday, Carnegie have six teams set to take part in the Cateran Trail Relay from Blairgowrie to the Spittal of Glenshee with a few also taking part in the 23 mile individual event.

Friday Evening Race Success for Owen Miller
Owen Miller (Dunfermline & West Fife AC) was the convincing winner of the opening one mile race in Carnegie's Friday Evening Race Series. Miller pulled clear from the chasing pack just after halfway before reaching the finish in a fast 4.59.

Pitreavie AAC's Lewis Donaldson covered the testing course in 5.10 placing 2nd overall with the host clubs Campbell Hutt finishing 3rd in 5.15. Pitreavie junior athlete Scott McAlpine ran a strong race placing 4th in 5.16 with his club mate Barry Davie finishing 5th in 5.18.

The ladies race produced some excellent times with junior athletes occupying the first three places. Ailidh Reid (Pitreavie AAC) was the leading lady in 6.17 with Fife AC's Laura Gibson finishing 2nd lady in 6.26 and Amy McAlpine, 3rd in 7.04.

Carnegie's Robert Milton was the 1st M40 (10th overall) in 5.49, Alan Gibson (Unattached) was 1st M50 in 6.55 and Susan Cederstrom was the 1st F40 in 7.37.

Well done to all the runners who took part and to everyone who helped with the race organisation.

Judy Turner places 2nd lady at the Kinross 10K
Carnegie Harriers were represented by seven club members at Thursday evenings Kinross House 10K Road Race. Judy Turner was in good form covering the fast and flat course in 40.23 finishing 2nd lady. Catriona McCracken was the 7th placed lady clocking a time of 44.21, Pamela Gilfillan was 10th lady overall in 45.13 and Lesley Halstead was 21st lady in 49.24.

Alan Cockburn broke the 40 minute barrier timing at 39.39 (24th overall), Frazer Munro was 38th in 41.38 and Ross Carrie covered his 6.2 miles in 42.19 placing 44th.

Harriers race 20 miles from Edinburgh to North Berwick
The 4th event in Carnegie's 2010 Road Running Grand Prix took place today at the annual Edinburgh to North Berwick 20 Mile Road Race. There was an excellent turnout of Harriers at this event which ran through the coastal towns and villages of Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Aberlady, Gullane and Dirleton before reaching the finish in North Berwick.

Iain Taylor placed 4th overall and 1st M40 in 2.06.33 leading Carnegie to team success with Alex Keenan finishing 6th overall in 2.08.19 and Stevie Ogg, 9th in 2.08.46.

Ian Johnston ran very well placing 3rd M50 (19th overall) in 2.16.12 and Tom Spry was the 1st M60 (72nd overall) completing the windswept 20 miler in 2.34.17.

John Fulham posted a time of 2.38.44 (89th), Robert Milton was 98th in 2.40.17 and Mick Cowie was 99th in 2.40.39. Isobel Burnett was Carnegie's leading lady and 3rd F45 overall in 2.40.44. Annette Bunyan warmed up for this month's Edinburgh Marathon clocking a time of 2.48.16 and Morna Fleming timed at 2.53.42. Well done to Susan Cederstrom who after running last Sunday's London Marathon was back distance racing finishing in 2.56.17.

Many thanks to club members Melanie Sinclair, Louise Hewison and Bernt Cederstrom who were out and about on the course providing encouragement to all the runners.

Seventeen Carnegie runners were amongst the 217 finishers and the complete set of results can be found HERE.

The weekly Edinburgh parkrun 5k attracted four Carnegie runners on Saturday morning to the popular event. Calum McGaw placed 7th overall in 18.24 and David Greig who ran last weekend's Highland Fling 53 Mile Race was 29th in 21.06. Paul Arnott was 44th in 22.20 and well done to Carnegie junior Robbie Swinton who on his club debut clocked 29.28 placing 112th.

Three Harriers were amongst 6622 runners at Sunday's BUPA Great Edinburgh Run. Matt Meade covered the testing 10k course in 41.13 placing 166th. Fast improving Carnegie junior Scott Dowell ran a personal best of 42.53 and Melanie Sinclair reached the finish in Holyrood Park in 50.44.
